1. EKONOMİK VE TARIMSAL DURUMU

 

İlçenin gelir durumuna paralel olarak ticari ve ekonomik hayat bir hayli durgundur. İlçe halkının ticari ilişkileri, genel olarak Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu ve Samsun gibi ticaret ve sanayi bakımından gelişmiş şehirlerle olmaktadır. Bu ticaret merkezleri ilçeyi ticari yönden etkisi altına almaktadır.

            İlçenin ekonomisi tarıma dayanmaktadır. Hayvancılık da gelişmiştir. Ancak, hayvancılık bir sektör haline gelmemiş olup sadece hane halkının günlük ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak şekilde yapılmaktadır.

            İlçe genelinde geniş meralar olmasına rağmen mera hayvancılığına gereken önemin verilmediği görülmektedir. Hayvancılık, tavukçuluk, arıcılık yapılmaktadır. Koyun ve kıl keçisi de beslenmektedir.

Yem bitkisi olarak yonca, çayır, korunga ve fiğ yetiştirilmektedir. Kürtün Kaymakamlığının hazırlayıp hayata geçirdiği sera projesi ile seracılığın yaygınlaştırılmasına çalışılmıştır. İlçede ayrıca meyvecilik ve ev ihtiyacını karşılamaya yönelik sebzecilik de yapılmaktadır. Kızılcık, elma, kuşburnu, armut, kiraz ve vişne yetiştirilmektedir.
